Guardian Ad Litem
A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is an independent person appointed by the Court to serve as the voice of a child in divorce actions, paternity cases, and modifications of preexisting domestic orders. This individual will typically do an investigation into the facts and evidence of a case to provide a recommendation to the court. However, the most powerful asset a GAL offers the parties is neutrality in contested situations. A GAL is an officer of the court meaning that his/her loyalty is owed to the process to ensure that the best interests of the child are advocated for rather than either of the parties in the courtroom.
Marc Consalo has served as a GAL in numerous cases in both domestic and dependency hearings. He has routinely been recognized by the Orange County Bar and Legal Aid of Orlando for this work. Offering his services as a GAL at a rate of $100.00 per hour no matter the parties' combined income, Attorney Consalo offers reasonable and fair assistance in ensuring children are not forgotten in the process.
